Limpid Blue Aquamarine is the birthstone for March, for Pisces AND the Anniversary stone for 19 years of marriage.  But it is just a very beautful gemstone, and you shouldn’t need any excuse to enjoy it.

Although the Greeks and Romans were not noted for having blue eyes, the did use it in the eyes of their statues to symbolize power and wisdom. According to legend, any person that looked at the statues became wise and gained the ability to see into the future. If only it were so easy.

All I know is that it makes gorgeous jewellery.

Cartier Aquamarine & Diamond bangle
March Birthday Girls have the gorgeous Aquamarine as their birthstone.  A beautifully clear blue stone, it is a form of precious Beryl, with a wonderful shine. The blue colour is caused by traces of iron, and the intensity of the blue depends on the amount of iron it contains. It can range from a very pale, to a deep-sea blue and the most valuable are an intense blue colour.
Some aquamarines have a light green hue, like the Aegean Sea, that’s my favourite. It may not be the most valuable, but it IS sublime.
